Special Assistance Guidelines at SewaTravel
At SewaTravel, we believe that every passenger deserves a smooth and comfortable journey. Our team is here to support you and ensure that your travel experience is as seamless as possible.
Emergency Evacuation Support for Passengers with Special Needs
In the event of an emergency evacuation, passengers with special needs are categorized as follows:
Ambulatory Passenger: An individual who is mobile and does not require assistance during an evacuation. These passengers can independently board, move within, and disembark the aircraft.
Non-Ambulatory Passenger: An individual who is immobile and requires assistance during an evacuation. These passengers cannot board, move about, or disembark the aircraft without help. If the passenger cannot feed themselves or needs help using the lavatory, they must be accompanied by a fit and capable personal attendant.
Seating Arrangements for Special Needs Passengers
To ensure safety and comfort:
Special needs passengers cannot be seated in emergency exit rows or in locations that obstruct emergency equipment, crew operations, or evacuation routes.
Two non-ambulatory passengers are not permitted to be seated across the aisle from each other in the same row.
If an attendant is required, they must be seated in the aisle seat next to the passenger.
Passengers with mobility challenges (e.g., fractured limbs, paraplegia) will be seated in areas that offer greater accessibility and comfort.
Walking aids such as canes and crutches must be stowed in designated cabin spaces for quick access when needed.
Passengers with visual impairments may travel alone or with a companion. However, those with both visual and hearing impairments must be accompanied by someone who can communicate safety instructions.
Wheelchair Assistance
We offer wheelchair services at all our stations. Please request this service at the time of booking.
Personal wheelchairs, including battery-powered ones (if permitted), must be checked in as baggage free of charge. They are not allowed as cabin carry-on.
Traveling with Portable Oxygen Cylinders (POC)
Passengers requiring a Portable Oxygen Cylinder must meet the following conditions:
Must be able to see, hear, and respond to the device’s alerts.
Must provide medical documentation confirming the need for oxygen.
Must declare the required oxygen flow rate and estimated duration of use.
Must present a valid doctor’s statement upon request by the crew.
Cannot be seated in exit rows or bulkhead seats.
The POC must be stored under the seat in front of the passenger.
When possible, a window seat will be assigned for POC users.
SewaTravel Procedure for POC Passengers:
The pilot will be informed of the POC onboard and provided with relevant medical details, including the passenger’s oxygen needs.
Stretcher Case Passengers
Stretcher passengers are considered non-ambulatory and require assistance throughout their journey.
Eligibility and Guidelines:
Only one stretcher case is permitted per flight unless it is a life-threatening emergency, in which case exceptions may be made.
A valid Fit-to-Fly certificate must be issued by the treating doctor or hospital.
An indemnity bond must be submitted, releasing SewaTravel from liability for any risk during travel.
In exceptional cases on domestic flights, the Pilot In-Charge may allow travel without a Fit-to-Fly certificate, provided a signed indemnity bond is submitted by a family member or personal care assistant.
Boarding & Seating Arrangements:
The stretcher will be installed in the last three rows on the port or starboard side of the aircraft.
The passenger must be escorted by qualified medical personnel if deemed necessary by the airline's medical team.
A personal care assistant must occupy the aisle seat next to the stretcher.
The stretcher passenger will be pre-boarded 10 minutes prior to other passengers.
The Cabin Crew In-Charge (CCIC) will oversee the boarding and ensure that the passenger is secured properly, facing the aft of the aircraft.
Non-ambulatory passengers will not be seated directly across from the stretcher.
The stretcher must be firmly secured to the aircraft, and the passenger restrained with an appropriate safety harness.
At SewaTravel, your safety and comfort are our highest priorities. If you have any special needs or require assistance, please notify us at the time of booking so we can make the necessary arrangements in advance.
